Kathy McClelland Cowan
Executive Director / Project Coordinator / Educator

Kathy Cowan, KRA Executive Director Kathy has been working as a professional artist and educator for over 24 years and is the project head and founder of KRA. She holds a degree in Commercial Art and has attended art courses at MIT, University of Hawaii, Kent State University and Pilchuck Glass School. She has taught art in Kauai public and private schools. At Pilchuck, she was nominated two times for the Saxe Award for Outstanding Teaching Assistant. She has participated in 45 exhibits since 1983 with 14 awards. Her work has been exhibited throughout Hawaii and the US, including Japan. Her artwork is in the collection of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. She was part of the art design team for the community built public art projects along a 2-mile bike path at Kamalani Playground, art director for Kamalani Kai Bridge and part of the design and art team for Kamalani Pavilion. In 2000, she built a large concrete and mosaic sculpture for the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts 1% Public Arts Program at Hanalei Elementary School.
